BTE "Next Episode" Training Project

Serves young people, ages 18-25 years. The project is an extension of the Bridge to Employment initiative. Participants take part in an eight-week paid job training program for 20 hours each week–sixteen hours of on-the-job training and four hours of classroom instruction. Classes cover life skills related to employment–resume preparation, interviewing skills, workplace etiquette, and conflict resolution. A financial literacy seminar will be included, as well. Local business owners have teamed up with NBAP to provide on-the-job training in areas of manufacturing, construction, and heating & cooling systems.

Summer Enrichment Camps

NBAP offers a variety of camps each summer. Activities range from physical to learning camps. Through partnerships with volunteers and community members, NBAP is able to offer camps to youth free of charge. NBAP provides a daily breakfast, lunch, and snack for over 50 youth.

Our goal during the summer is not only to expose youth to fun activities, but to also introduce them to exciting learning experiences and various events in locations to which they might not otherwise be exposed. We complement these enrichment activities with dedicated time to keeping educational and reading skills sharp during summer vacation.

Past camps have included:

• Recreation: basketball, golf, tennis, swimming, sailing
• Nature
• Arts: music, dance, crafts
• Ministry
• College and workplace tours

St. Charles Youth and Family Services

Since 1996, NBAP has worked with male and female youth (ages 11-17) at St.Charles Youth and Family Services to provide positive role models through Christian-based teaching. Although some youth are there for a relatively short period of time others maybe there for months, they desperately need encouragement and caring support. This youth ministry is 100% volunteer delivered.

To connect with the residents, NBAP recruits volunteers with a heart for the ministry to provide for the youths’ needs. In addition to weekly Bible studies, we also provide:

• Arts & Crafts
• Special Events - concerts, Thanksgiving meal, Christmas gifts, birthday parties
• Career Night weekly speaker programs
• A “Different Path” fellowship and fun time at the Youth Center
